Customer comments on this selection.
A little slow The ideas presented were very nice, but I felt this book moved a little slow and was, at times, very repetitive.
This book was such a help I lost my husband of 31 years almost 2 years ago now to a GBM; brain tumor. I received many books from people, but this book by Jerry Sittser was the one that truly helped me. I didn't read it right away; reading was difficult for me at the beginning as I couldn't really focus.
But when I picked this book up and started it, I just kept on reading. Here was a man who understands catastrophic loss; his was the death of family members, but he also talks about other types of loss one encounters in life. He helped me realize that I need to confront my loss and face it head on--not to run away from it and push it away. As I have faced my grief, the Lord is helping me travel from the darkness to the Light. I have given this book to other widows and to those who have lost their jobs. I am so thankful that Jerry has written this without the platitudes that we hear from people who don't know what to say. There is hope even when we have lost someone we loved deeply; he reminds us that God still walks with us daily on this journey of life. Thank you Jerry for writing this book.
Excellent Service This item was exactly as described; it was received in excellent shape and in a very timely manner. I would buy again from this seller without hesitation.
After our daugher's accidental death two years ago, my husband and I read many books on grieving and loss. Sittser's book was the most helpful to us in processing our own grief, offering not pithy platitudes, but thought-provoking reflections out of the author's own catastrophic loss. We have bought many copies of this book for friends going through difficult times because it is relevant to those who suffer loss of any kind.

A Grace Disguised Excellent, cannot say enough about how this man explains the grieving psyche. Moves beyond everything else that is written. Although my loss was not as terrible as his I could identify with everything he said. It is so good to have someone confirm that it is something that we go through and, perhaps more importantly, what we can get through.
Would recommend this to all who have undergone loss in any form.
