 Nice look to it, but beware the lists in the back
I was so glad to finally find an NRSV version for teens. I ordered a bunch to use in confirmation. It's well constructed and has a nice feel to it. However, our problem is that it provides a "subject guide" in the back, which in itself isn't the problem - it's an opportunity for the youth to find passages that match their questions or interests. I discovered that indeed Zondervan had included homosexuality on the list. We are an open and affirming congregation and this interpretation of scripture is not OK. What's interesting however is that it doesn't take you to any Old Testament texts - such as Leviticus - but only Romans, 1st Corinthians, and 1st Timothy. Those are the very texts that are least problematic of all 7 scriptures often used as a weapon against gay and lesbian Christians. So, I guess that's better than nothing... But I had hoped that an NRSV version wouldn't include the consumate right-wing ideology of other translations.
Bible Study - NRSV
Workhorse Bible for study of the NSRV, one of the solid modern English translations. Great for teenagers alone or for adults in conjunction with other study Bibles, such as Harpers, and alongside other translations.
 My First Bible
This is the first Bible I've ever read from cover to cover, and I must say that it was very good.
The instructional notes inside are a great guide for beginners like myself. If you've ever had a desire to read the entire Bible, I would highly recommend making your first Bible to do that with.
Just what I wanted
I returned the NRSV with the blue cover w/ apocraphy. This is perfect - will learn alot from it.
Great Bible
My wife and I spent weeks looking for a good Bible that we could use for a daily Bible study. This Bible is exactly what we were looking for. The reading plans are good tools, and the comments thoughtout the text are wonderful. We are very happy with this Bible.
