 Interesting Perspective!
I can't say I particulary care for the style of Ben-jochanna writings which are often redundant and hard to understand, but he does broaden the perspective on how one looks at and defines African Religions. Groundbreaking analysis of these "native ways" show that they are no differnent than Christanity, Catholisium or Judaism. The only difference is that they are practiced by "black people" and shroded in African culture and thus viewed inferior by Eurocentric minds. The writer shows the striking parallles between "Judaism" and "Voodo", "Chrisitanity" and the religon of the "Yoruba". A must read for any student of Theology or any African American who desires to know more about their pre-colonial religious practices. Wonderful to know that they are the root of the Eurocentric idea of religion!
 DID YOU SLEEP ON THIS???
I know many folk ain't ready for these theories. But, just remember, everybody who writes has their own theories. What makes your's any more real than mine. One, thing you gotta admit, Dr Ben makes you think. Remember, it ain't illegal yet. Break the bonds. Maybe one day we'll find our way back to the old landmark. And don't be surprised if, when we do a lot of what is in this book will be waiting for us. Keep on writing Dr Ben.
Good reading
This is a good informative book and challenges the American-European-Islamic mores based upon racism, arrogance and the falsification of history. Should be required reading.
Good and Educational Read
African Origins of the Major Western Religions by Yosef Ben-Jochana
I believe it was Napoleon Bonapart that said "history is agreed upon lies." Mr. Ben-Jochanna pulls the quilt back for all to see. I recommend this book if you want to know the truth.

real research for real people
Possibly one of the best books written of its kind. The author links various Afrikan pagan spiritual faiths and gods to each other (JuJu, Voodoo, Odemare, Sun Worship, Afrikan holy trinity) to all the major western religions, as well as to music such as jazz and gospel. It is comprehensive in scope and very historical in perspective, examining each major religions relationships by chapter. One thing for sure, is that there is not one single religion on earth conceived, invented, maintained, helped along without Afrikans as major players, real and mythological to help spread the gospel and make modern religion what it is today. The author gives excellent bibliographical references for those who are critics to see for themselves.
