Norm Geisler rocks! Brilliant! Starts from the ground up by looking at questions like "can we know truth" and "is there truth" before moving on to the question of God's existence. After establishing that, the authors turn to the question of Jesus and who he was. They end with a discussion of why the bible should be believed and considered infallible. So this is actually an apologetic for Christianity, not just theism. The only problem is that the authors stop short and don't deduce WHICH Christian Church is the Church founded by Jesus. Of course, Norm and I disagree with which church that is, but I still love Norm!
Excellent read This is required reading for my daughter's 10th grade bible class but I couldn't help taking a peak. Its well written and draws the reader in. It is written in language more appropriate for adults. It is certainly a challenge for my 16 year old who is used to reading more text messages than real language.
NAZI style propoganda With such an interesting title I could'nt pass this one up. When I saw Mr. Turek speak online in one of his videos I thought he might have some creditals. Indeed on the back on this book it says he has some degrees. It was'nt until I went to his website that I found out he has no degrees in science. He has a degree in Christian apologetics and a masters in public administration. In other words he is nothing more than a motivational speaker. The book is anything but critical science. The author(s) bombard the reader with straw-man anologies, cherry-picking, circular logic, and "nazi type propoganda. I'm surprised Turek/Geisler did'nt offer a "final solution" to deal with the atheist problem. More to follow....
This is the one... ...book I always recommend to those who are seeking the truth about what faith/belief systems are true. There is only one reason to believe in anything - because something is true. If atheism is true, we all need to be atheists, but if Christianity is true, then we all need to be Christians. This book systematically walks a person through all the various choices and provides solid, reasonable, evidence for the truth of Christianity. I heartily recommend it to anyone who is earnestly seeking the truth about God.
finally a book for thinkers This book is put together in a very logical, and understandable order. Beginning with things like the Big Bang and the philosophy of the existence of a God. Then in an easy transition it shows you that Christianity fits perfectly into the mind and works of this God. If you are a skeptic, read it and learn the christian point of view and argument for God. If your a Christian, read it and learn more about your faith and religion so you can be a better witness. I have read some of the reviews that bash the book. If you read the book you can obviously tell that they haven't really read it, or maybe just read bits and pieces. All the arguments they pose are answered in the book. This is a great book to give as a gift to somebody that might be on the edge of God or some other spiritual path. Get this book!!!
