 "Listen! You whose ears refuse to hear!"-Absalom Feinberg
Following the most recent Mumbai massacre of a few weeks ago, another Al Qaeda orchestrated event, will there be more of the same in the future? Dr. Andrew Bostom hopes not. This book was published in 2005. In Dr. Bostom's "Acknowledgements" section preceding the first pages of this book, he dedicates the book to his family and particularly, his children: "May... (they) thrive in a world where the devastating institution of jihad has been acknowledged, renounced, dismantled, and relegated forever to the dustbin of history by Muslims themselves."
Of the 100 or so killed in the massacre, a jewish orthodox rabbi and his 5 months pregnant wife, were specifically targeted for assasination. (I agree, 3 people were killed in that instance). I had found an article or blog on the internet from a female journalist that explained this latest incident so well, but alas, I can't find it now. The target was well chosen and was meant to threaten any allies the western world has in that part of the globe, shake up the fragile peace between India and Pakistan.
The articles that Dr. Bostom has brought together in this book, all describe the institution of jihad, some by victims, or witnesses of jihad throughout the 15 centuries. Herein, you'll read an Armenian clergyman's account of a jihad in 700 A.D. up to the genocide in the Sudan written by a christian pastor trying to rescue christians and animists enslaved in an ongoing jihad there through Christian Solidarity International (CSI). I also loved the excerpt from Jacques Ellul's "Subversion of Christianity" in which he describes the impact that Islam has had on christianity. There areno pictures in this book, only maps, which are particularly enlightening, if one studies them carefully. The maps depict countries surrounding the Mediterranean Sea, during the 7th to 11th Christian centuries. Not until the ninth century, did christians gain lands from others. In the 7th century, in present day Georgia, land was gained and lost to Islam by the christians who had lived there for 700 years.
I thoroughly was enlightened by reading this huge book. Don't be discouraged by the size of the book; it really was hard to put down, and the many articles herein break the tedium that might have ensued had it been one extremely long historical account.
It is really terrible what happened in Mumbai, in New York on September 11, the embassy bombings, the London bombings, etc. etc. etc. ad infinitum. This book will give you a snapshot of this 1500 year old institution.

One of the most fascinating books that I have ever read
The politically correct demand that we all recognize Islam as a "religion of peace" has a strangely surreal feel to it. In this book, we find out why that is. This book is a large and in-depth collection of articles on Jihad and the Islamic ways of war and peace. Drawing from many source, Islamic and Western, historical and modern, theoretical and actual eyewitness, the articles show just what Jihad means, both to those who wage it, and those upon whom it is waged.
I must say, this is one of the most fascinating books that I have ever read. The many articles are wonderfully eye-opening, and I found the book to be a great answer to the fuzzy-minded look at Islam that is portrayed within the Western media. If you want to really understand Islam and Jihad, and not just listen to half-baked and ill-informed talking heads (Left, Right, or whatever), then get this book. If there is one book that I would say that you must read, it is this book. I give it my highest recommendations.
 Islamophobic author
Big deal.. Ibn Warraq releases another anti-Islam book. He is not a scholar of any sorts and his viewpoints are not analyzed academically, which is why I think it resonates well with those who are ignorant on the issue.
I have read his work before and think that, if you want to Islam-bash, he'll be more than glad to take your money and offer you the work of a third-class hack.
 Militant Islam Revealed
This book correctly points out the obvious truth about militant Islam. Islamic extremists are nothing more than brainwashed swine blindly following the alleged writings of the phony known as Mohammed. They do not want peace and there will never be relative peace until the extremists are reduced to small enough numbers to allow the rest of the world to live in relative peace and safety.

"Execution of a Moroccan Jewess" is a recreation of the actual public execution, in Tangier in the 1830s, of 17-year-old Sol Hachuel, who was falsely accused of converting to, and then renouncing, Islam. In an introductory note on the painting and on the heartbreaking tale, Bostom asserts that Sol's cruel fate was shared by countless Jews over more than a dozen centuries, wherever Muslims ruled.
The Legacy of Islamic Anti-Semitism calls to mind the work of Bat Yeor, who over the past 20 years has practically single-handedly forced recognition of the oppression inherent in what she calls dhimmitude - the institution of inferiority, humiliation and obedience that Muslims demand of non-Muslims under their control.
