Understand My Muslim People I am glad that I ordered 2 of these books and plan to order more. I have read many books on the subject of Islam vs Christianity and this is the best in many ways. It is balanced, well written, well researched and not filled with inflammatory rhetoric, just facts and experiences from the author who grew up as Muslim and converted to Jesus Christ. I am not quite finished with my first reading, but will likely read it again and use it for reference over time. I have given the second book to a 12 year old family member whose father is Muslim and mother is Christian (they are divorced) in hope of giving him a tool of understanding.
If you'll only read one book on Islam, let it be THIS ONE! An honest look at Islam, from a man who - as a Muslim - hungered for more. A great balance of the history, meanings, terms and goals as well as the individual and global impact of Islam, the book is not critical of Islam, just truthful. It is both informative and powerful. -- C.M., Dallas, TX
hoax that started on the internet It is amazing how many people have assigned 5 stars to this book praising the author for his "islamic" knowledge, and yet have probably not read another book on Islam. This story has been going around the internet for well over 10 years, and that person could never answer any genuine questions about Islam, and I mean factual questions that any muslim would be able to answer, and he could never keep bits and pieces of his story straight. It is amazing it took this long for it to make it into book form. What many forget though, is that if it is true this person converted. If you go and ask an atheist why they left Christianity, do you think you will get glowing repose on the wonders of the religion? Or disappointments, disillusion, and down right hatred for their ex-religion? My bet is the latter, a disgruntled ex-muslim,-christian, or jew is not the person to take advise on a religion from, at least not without a grain of salt and without having read something of an opposing point of view. In that regards the disengenousness of the author has become apparent, as he does not exhort you to read the Quran or any other books on Islam to see for yourself, but provides you with careful excerpts that are taken out of context, something that can be done with any religious book, and make it look horrible from the outside. People really should learn to read more than one book and educate themselves, rather than parroting what one ex-muslim claims is the truth, even if his experiences were truthful, an honest person would encourage to learn for yourself, not say listen to me and no one else.
Great Information on Muslims The author tells the amazing story how he came to know Christ and how it cost him everything. He then give facts about the Muslim faith, which are very informative. It's one of the best books I've read on this topic.
Understand My Muslim People Great book for understanding the differences between the Muslim faith and Christianity. The book is an easy read and flows well, paralleling an understanding of Islam with an understanding of Christianity in most of the chapters.
